How tech works - With a south Louisiana flare

About the Podcast

01 / FAST

Now I know your time is valuable - and I will not waste your time. These podcasts are 30min or less per episode. So sit back, grab your favorite beverage and let's get started on this journey together!

02 / INFORMATIVE

I want to talk about a lot of things here, but not just computers and gadgets. I want to touch on cloud computing, internet security, smart home and IoT, cord cutting, and lots of other topics that are under the broad “tech” umbrella and most importantly, how it affects you in your day to day life.

03 / HELPFUL

There are lots of acronyms and crazy sounding things in IT and I want to try and explain what they are, how to use it, and why it matters. The more informed you are the better decisions you can make.

About / Contact Me

My name is Clark and I am 40 years old and grew up in St. James parish Louisiana (for you out of staters a parish is a county) which is well south of Interstate 10 (hence the name of the podcast), but spent my fair share of years in Baton Rouge. I've been in IT full time for 12 years now and have certifications from COMPTia including A+, Security+, Server+ and also certifications from IBM, HP, Lenovo, Lexmark, and Dell. I've worked as a contractor for a large 3 letter phone company (don't want to mention any names here). I have also worked as a Field technician installing and troubleshooting cat5 and cat6 networks and fiber optic networks as well as T1 and DSL lines among other projects with phones and paging systems. I was also a field tech for a national grocery/general merch chain and would routinely repair registers, computers, printers, and telephone issues that would arise in the Baton Rouge area. Currently a Regional Lead Technician for a national home improvement chain working in a 3 state region and I work with both cat6 and fiber networks, PCs, thin clients, phone and paging systems, laser printers, and access points.

Working in a commercial IT environment is a little different than the home networks that I will talk about in the podcast, but to be honest they are also very similar in the sense that home networks are just extremely scaled back from what I see everyday. The object of this podcast is to start with the basics of what a home network is and can do for you and how technology can make your life simpler or just plain more enjoyable!
